On Monday, September 5, 2005, Frank Jr. went with some friends to hang out for Labor Day at a near by river. He dove into the lake that was pretty shallow. He hit a rock and broke his 5th, 6th & 7th vertibrae, which left him a quadriplegic. Where most would give up, Frank Jr. just grew stronger. He went through extensive therapy & rehabilitation.
On Christmas of 2005, we brought him home. My sister Becky gave up her life, to become his caregiver. She fed him, she changed him, she took him to all of his appointments. She took care of him as if he was her child. She with the rest of us encouraged him and helped him gain his strength. In the beginning of 2006 he became a consultant and educator. He went back up to the Reeve's Rehab Center on every doctor's visit and consulted patients and their families whom also suffered the same trauma.
Frank Jr. tried so hard to become self-sufficient. We bathed him every Sunday. As hard as it seems it would be, us having to bath our grown brother, it was rather fun. We sang songs, we cut jokes, and we even dropped him a few times. He was so crazy. We had the time of our lives in that bathroom.
